Radish or mooli might not be the most popular vegetable around the world, but it is certainly packed with nutrition! More recently, this superfood is finding favour amongst people for its health benefits. In fact, the benefits of radish will leave you in awe.

You might not like its taste, but it scores high points when it comes to health. And that’s why, it is best to make radish a part of your diet!

If you’ve been thinking why we are blabbering so much about radish or mooli, that’s because this vegetable is a good source of antioxidants, vitamin C and other nutrients that benefits your body in multiple ways. So, without wasting any more time, let’s look at what all mooli can do for you!

1. Reduces your risk of diabetes

If you are at a risk of diabetes, including radish to your diet can certainly keep your sugar levels in check. The superfood contains certain anti-diabetic compounds such as glucosinolate and isothiocyanate that help regulate your blood sugar levels. A study published in the journal Nutrients found that radish also improves metabolism of glucose, and insulin response.

2. Hydrates your body

During winter, we often tend to drink less water, which can leave your body dehydrated. Having mooli regularly can keep your body hydrated, because of its really high water content. When your body is well-hydrated, your skin and hair looks healthy and your body functions properly.

Radish is high in fibre, and promotes good bowel movement. This root vegetable also prevents constipation, acid reflux or any other digestive disorder such as irritable bowel syndrome.

Radish is rich in antioxidants, calcium and potassium, which helps to lower your blood pressure. Along with it, mooli is also a good source of natural nitrates that improves the blood flow. When the blood pressure and flow is normal, the chances of heart disease gets reduced.

Researchers from Kagoshima University in Japan also found that radish can protect your coronary blood vessels, and potentially prevent the risk of heart disease and stroke. Moreover, anthocyanins, the flavonoids responsible for giving radish its red colour, have been linked to a lower risk of heart disease.
