1. Ginger

From our sabzis to teas, ginger is a versatile ingredient that can be used in multiple ways. Truth be told, it has been used for keeping cold and flu at bay for centuries now! Gingerol, a compound present in ginger, has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe the sore throat and fight off infections. 3. Beetroot

Beetroot is another vegetable you will find more commonly during the winters. It is known for its bright red colour and sweet taste. Hence, you can also eat it raw! It is often credited with lowering blood pressure in patients who suffer from hypertension. This is believed to be due to the presence of nitrates in beetroots. Similarly, consuming nitrates is also good for those who work out regularly because it can enhance the function of mitochondria and leave you feeling more energetic.
