For someone trying to lose weight, fig water can be a good addition to your diet. It is rich in fibre and keeps you satiated for a long time so that you don’t feel hungry and consume a limited amount of calories. It also helps control cravings. Drinking fig water in the morning on an empty stomach may help boost your metabolism, which is important to help you lose weight, explains the expert.

2. Good for digestion

If you suffer from digestive health issues, fig water can act as a natural laxative that helps promote digestion. It is also a good source of fibre, helping in improving bowel movements and avoiding constipation. A study published in the journal Pharmaceutical Biology found that consuming figs can help you get rid of digestive problems like constipation. So, regular consumption of fig water may help keep digestive problems at bay.

3. Helps bring down blood sugar levels

The dietitian says anjeer water contains properties that help control your blood sugar levels. It is high on soluble fibre, which slows down the absorption of sugar in the body, to prevent blood sugar levels from shooting up. It is also recommended to people with diabetes to drink in the morning on an empty stomach. A small study published in the Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice found that people who took fig leaf extracts experienced a decrease in after-meal glucose meals.

Fig water is a rich source of potassium, which is known for its heart-friendly properties. High blood pressure or hypertension is one of the biggest causes of developing heart disease.
