In summer, with a rise in the temperature of our surroundings, our internal body temperature also rises. As a result, it leads to dehydration, tiredness, irritation, and restlessness. This raises the need for nutrition by a notch. However, the summer heat does a foul play in bringing down our appetite. To cool down our body’s temperature, we prefer to drink water, juice, or other drinks (preferably with ice). Too many drinks usually end up filling our stomach and satisfying our appetite, but do not provide enough nutrients and minerals to our body. We are here to talk about some foods to eat in summer that will nourish you and cool you down too.

Health Shots got in touch with Kamayani Naresh, Nutrition and Health Expert, Zyropathy, to tell us about the foods that are perfect for the summer season.

“There are some fresh fruits and some vegetables that can do the trick. They are vitamin-enriched and delicious enough to bring back our lost appetite. These are refreshing, healthy foods to eat in summer that can also cool down your body temperature.

Some of the foods to eat in summer that can beat the heat and improve our health are:

1. Fresh fruits

The summer season comes with a variety of juicy fruits that make for the best foods to eat in summer. Citrus fruits such as lemon, lime, grapefruit, mango, orange, pineapple, strawberry, tomato, etc. are rich in Vitamin C and also contain other vitamins like A, B, E, and K. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption, thus improves the immunity of our body and also helps our teeth and gums to be healthy. Hydrating fruits such as melons and watermelons are best for the summer season.
