The food we eat has a long impact on our longevity. Fortunately, there’s a wide range of delicious and nutritious foods that can help add years to life. Here are some anti-ageing foods that will help you lead a long and healthy life:

1. Cruciferous veggies

Vegetables like broccoli, bok choy, and red cabbage may help ward off cancer. These veggies are rich in minerals and vitamins such as folate and vitamin K, A and C. This helps to lower inflammation as well.

2. Water

What you drink also matters. This makes water one of the most important anti-ageing foods. Staying hydrated lowers your risk of blood clots and boosts your energy. Water is a basic necessity of human life, as most of our body is made up of water. It also helps to carry nutrients to cells, flush out waste from the bladder, prevents constipation, aids digestion, stabilizes heartbeat, and protects organs and tissues.

3. Berries

Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are antioxidant powerhouses and hence amazing anti-ageing foods. Antioxidants can help prevent disease and cell damage. Berries help to improve blood sugar, provide nutrients, help to fight inflammation, lower cholesterol levels, protect against cancer, and are healthy for your skin.

4. Tomatoes

They are a great source of the antioxidant lycopene that fights free radicals that affect your immune system and damage your cells. Tomatoes are rich in vitamins, potassium and other nutrients that help to prevent diseases in colon, pancreas, mouth, throat, cervix and breast as well. They also boost your heart health, and are helpful for eyes and lungs as well.

6. Coffee

Drinking coffee may lower the risk of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and has been linked to longer life.

9. Beans

The world’s longest living people eat plants in large quantities. Beans are a great choice for plant-based protein. They are high in fibre, low in fat, and are packed with nutrients. Beans boost your heart health, control diabetes, reduce the risk of cancer, control appetite and improve gut health.

The fibre in whole grains promotes gut health, and protects against cancer and heart disease.
