Diet food need not be bland and boring, when there are so many options that are available in the food gamut. With the right recipe and some time in your hands, you can make dishes that are both delicious and healthy. Therefore, from the endless recipes that fitness influencers share on Instagram, we present a recipe that will not just satiate your taste buds, but can also be eaten on non-cheat day!

Ladies, we bring to you the recipe for ‘protein tikkis’, a healthy alternative which promises to deliver the similar roadside taste and feels. 

This is what you need to make these tikkis from the comfort of your home:
Ingredients
  • 250 grams boiled sweet potato
  • 50 grams soaked soy granules
  • 100 grams broccoli (Grated)
  • 50 grams moong daal (Soaked and grinded)
  • 10 grams chopped garlic
  • 10 grams chopped ginger
  • 1 chopped green chili
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  • Rock salt to taste
  • 5 low fat cheese cubes 
  • Virgin coconut oil/ghee just to grease the pan

Making these delicious dish

Step 1: Take a bowl and add sweet potato, soy granules, grated broccoli, moong dal paste, garlic, ginger, green chili, cumin, chaat masala, garam masala, coriander and salt. Now, mix these ingredients thoroughly and create a dough.

Step 2: Use the dough to make small circular structures (resembling a ball) and make a cavity to insert the low-fat cheese cube. Close the cavity with some of the dough you made.

Step 3: Take a non-stick pan, put it on medium flame and grease it with a little coconut oil or ghee. 

Step 4: Once the oil is hot and sizzling, start cooking your tikkis. Once they are golden from both the sides, remove it from the pan and serve them piping hot with green chutney or curd.

Tip: You could also use your microwave or an oven at home to bake delicious cheese bites using the same ingredients and dough making steps.

Nutrition profile 

With just 256 calories per serving, these tikkis offer a variety of nutrients such as protein (26 grams per serving) and fiber (10 grams per serving).     

The sweet potato will have absolutely no fat and provide high amounts of fiber that can aid weight loss and help you stay full for longer durations.   

Additionally, good fats such as cheese and coconut oil or ghee help lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
