Raise your hand if you have been told by your gym trainer to opt for pre-workout drinks like BCAA, etc. Well, my hand is up too and I think it’s the same case with everyone, who is a gym fanatic. Ladies, we understand you want to achieve a firm and tight body, but be very sure about having pre-workout drinks, because they are not like other energy drinks.

Most of the pre-workout drinks consist of amino acids, beta-alanine, caffeine, and creatine. They also include artificial colours, flavours, and sweeteners. The buzzword here is artificial, which makes it trickier, because the side-effects of pre-workout drinks can be scary.

Post the Covid-19 infection, I saw my stamina hitting rock bottom and I was looking for something that could help me, albeit holistically. I tried eating almonds, walnuts, apples, protein bars, but instant energy was somehow missing.

When I asked my trainer – he had the usual reply of going for a pre-workout drink. But naah! I didn’t have a buy-in (will tell you later why). Thanks to Insta, I stumbled upon this reel, where they shared a homemade recipe for the pre-workout drink and I made it for myself.

On day one, it was more psychological — I felt that since I’m drinking something, it must have an impact. But as I made it a habit, I realized over a period of time that it actually helped me.

That’s why I want to share more about this drink, so that you can ditch that synthetic option and go for this natural sipper.

Why am I in love with this pre-workout mix?

It literally energized me in a jiffy! Well, that is the main reason why I have shared this recipe with you. As I have mentioned above, my stamina was at an all-time low and I wasn’t able to perform the way I would before Covid. My trainer recommended me to have a pre-workout drink. But I wasn’t convinced, because I had a terrible experience in the past. I drank a few sips of some pre-workout drink, just to check how my body reacts to it. And that was a nightmare coming true! My BP shot up and I felt so dizzy. My body was shivering and to add to it, it was a working day.

When I went to work, I couldn’t concentrate at all, and was sitting all day with my head held in my hands. There was this weird sensation running through my whole body that made it super scary – like you have when your limb wakes up from being numb.

And finally, I got my stride back. Image courtesy: Shutterstock

That feeling was nerve wrecking and hence I decided not to opt for it ever. But this lemon drink is something I have been having for almost a month now, and I have seen that it provides me with instant energy that I need, while working out.

I swear this drink turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because I couldn’t find anything else that works so instantly!
