Let us take you on a nostalgic ride about gond ke ladoos. Most of us have munched on this winter delight throughout our childhood visits to our grandma’s house. The extra-nourishing gond ladoos are usually consumed by pregnant and lactating women or anybody who is recovering from an illness. But these tempting sweets are really just for everyone. Yes, because there are myriad health benefits that these ladoos can deliver to you.

Gond, also known as acacia gum, is usually sourced from plant gums. In India, it is primarily found sticking to the sap of the Babool tree. The gum crystals are harvested carefully so that you can reap their nutritional goodness.

Shikha A Sharma, Celebrity Nutritionist and Founder of Fat to Slim, spoke to HealthShots about what is it about gond ladoos that make them highly nutritious.

“There’s something special about this winter wonder. People prefer to eat gond ladoos in winter since they are high in nutrients. Apart from that, it is recommended that new mothers eat gond ladoos,” says Sharma.

“I advise my patients to eat gond ladoos with lukewarm milk on an empty stomach in the morning. This helps strengthen your bones.” she adds.

Edible gum is water soluble, which means you can include it in your diet in many forms, but nothing beats the good old ladoos. These crunchy sweets make for the perfect accompaniments for tea.
