Summer means a lot of mocktails, lemonades, lassis, sharbats, and whatnot. After all we all love our share of sugary beverages when the scorching sun is sucking the joy out of our life. Except, it causes weight gain and is not really good for our health. But when jaggery (aka gur) is here to quench your thirst, why rely on sugar?  

You must be thinking, gur in summers? Well, in moderation why not. And we have got you an ultimate jaggery mocktail recipe for you that will blow your mind away. P.s. This recipe is coming to you straight from the streets of old Delhi, where it is touted as gur ka sharbat. So, let’s go for it.

Ingredients

½ cup gur or jaggery
2 cups of water
Juice of two lemons
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp roasted jeera powder
5 mint leaves
Pinch of black salt
4-5 ice cubes

Preparation

1. Soak jaggery in water for around two hours.
2. Now strain the water through a sieve and with the help of a spoon pass the residue of jaggery with a spoon.
3. Now grind the mint leaves using a mortar and pestle.
4. Now add lemon juice, chat masala, black salt, and jeera powder. Mix it well.
5. Add ice, serve and enjoy.
