When it comes to weight loss, the first instinct that comes to our mind is to reduce the amount of carbohydrates we consume in the form of chapati, rice or bread. However, imagine if you could convert your staple chapati into a powerful weight loss aiding food.

Yes, you could make your chapatis fibre-rich and low in calories that will help you lose weight by mixing certain cereals, dry fruits and grains with the traditional whole wheat.

To make your wholewheat roti a healthier option:
1. Jowar and whole wheat flour

Also known as sorghums, jowar is a gluten free flour option that is considered to aid weight loss due to its richness in protein, dietary fibre, calcium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin B and C. The nutrition profile of jowar helps to improve digestion, free radicals, control sugar levels and improves heart health.

You could take ½ cup jowar flour and mix with ½ cup whole wheat flour to make healthier rotis.

2. Ragi or nachni and whole wheat flour

Ragi is another gluten free option that is rich in fibre and amino acids. These qualities help in reducing the appetite and boost weight loss. Ragi prevents obesity, provides energy, improves digestion and averts chronic heart diseases.

Combining ¼ cup of ragi atta with ¾ cup of whole wheat flour will be a great option for making a healthy dough for your chapatis.

It is also gluten-free and a powerhouse of magnesium, iron, and calcium. The best part of almond flour is that it has less phytic acid, which means you receive more nutrients when you eat foods containing almond flour.
