Toast and spreads are the most common breakfast options across the world. That’s because this breakfast combo is easy to make. But the problem is that people usually only stick to butter and jam, which makes toast an unhealthy option to nosh on. Yes, we are looking at you obesity, diabetes, and heart disease!

That’s why we want you to ditch these fatty spreads and try healthy variants—one for each day of the week.

Here are the seven healthy spreads for your toasts
1. Avocado spread

You might not be an avocado fan but you can still give guacamole a chance. And trust us you are going to love it. Guacamole is nothing but mashed avocado with some seasoning, finely chopped onions and tomatoes, and a hint of lime. All this mixed together and can be used as a spread on crisply toasted bread. Ahh, heaven!

2. Home-made peanut butter

Everyone knows that peanut butter is bursting with protein, which makes it a great food to have in the morning. Toasted whole-grain bread and a knife-full of peanut butter is a wholesome meal in itself. Not to mention, it’s outright delicious. That said, you might want to ditch peanut butter available in the market as it comes loaded with sugar and preservatives. Instead, whip up a batch at home. It’s easier than you think!

3. Hummus

This is another yummy spread, which is healthy as hell. There will hardly be any unwanted calories when it comes to hummus. Also, it is one of the most versatile spreads ever! You can blend boiled chickpeas with any and all spices and veggies.

And did you know that hummus is the perfect food if you really want your oestrogen levels in check? So, it’s a win-win.

4. Ricotta cheese

If you are a cheese buff then you can totally place your bets on ricotta as it’s a healthy and wholesome spread for your toasties. Do you know that ricotta cheese contains vitamin A, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B12, vitamin K, iodine, phosphorus, selenium and zinc? That’s why we are recommending this one to you. So, try it out.

5. Cheese topped with berries

If you like toppings on your toast then here’s what you can do. Spread some low-fat cheese on a slice of whole-grain bread. Top with the berries of your choice, and you’re done! The sweet and salty mix will make the breakfast too good to be true. Plus, no unwanted calories.

Also, berries are something you should include in your diet irrespective of your age. That’s because they are loaded with antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory in nature.

6. Honey

There are some people who like butter and jam on their toast. But why choose jam when you can very well replace that sugar trap with honey. And you can very well replace butter with some healthy cheese or even peanut butter. But do you know what’s even better–a crisp toast laden with honey. We mean who needs Nutella, right?
