New Year’s eve is almost here! Our celebration plans are in full swing. We want to have that radiant glowing skin to light up the party and be the centre of attraction. But if your skin is not healthy from inside, no makeup product can rescue you from those dark patches.

So, instead of spending lots of money on expensive skincare products, concentrate on getting glowing skin by taking some healthy measures. Here are a few nutritionist tips to help you get blemish-free skin in 2021.

1. Avoid sugar completely

To get glowing and blemish-free skin, cut down on your sugar intake as much as possible. The sugar aggravates acne, fine lines, and rashes by quickly getting absorbed into the bloodstream and spiking up insulin levels.

While you’re at it, try a low-glycemic diet by replacing sugary items with natural sugar substitutes like fruits, vegetables, and healthy omega-3 sources. Instead of sugary junk foods, rely on whole fruits for quick snacking.

2. Add spices to your diet

Many people are not aware of the fact that spices are also enriched with antioxidants. By adding spices like turmeric, fennel, flaxseed, coriander, and cumin to your diet you can boost collagen synthesis. They also improve the digestive system which eventually nourishes the skin. Turmeric can also be used in face packs to control excess oil secretion and cure uneven skin tone.

3. Indulge in nuts and seeds

Mineral deficiencies also lead to acne-prone and dull skin. You can have all sorts of nuts like almonds, cashews, walnuts, and pistachios as snacks. Enhance the nutrient level of your morning oats by adding pumpkin or sunflower seeds to it. The vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, and copper in nuts and seeds helps to reduce skin impurities, while the selenium in them increases the number and functioning of white blood cells that fight the skin infections.

4. Swear by vegetables

The best skin diet actively includes all sorts of vegetables, especially leafy green ones like spinach, lettuce, and kale. Start your day with a glass of green juice with the vegetables of your choice. It will hydrate the skin as well as will flush out toxins. You can use vegetables such as tomatoes, avocado, ginger, garlic, cabbage, and cauliflower in your salads. The fibre in them helps to boost the overall immune and digestive system.

5. Have citrus fruits daily

Citrus fruits are rich in antioxidants and thus help to eliminate free radicals from the body. They boost the collagen and leave a healthy glow on the skin. They also purify the blood and lighten the skin tone from inside. Blueberries, strawberries, oranges, pomegranates, and pears are rich sources of antioxidants.

6. Stay hydrated

This is the most effective and cheapest way to get clear skin. Drink at least 3 to 4 litres of water every day to flush out toxins from your body. It will reduce acne breakouts and do wonders on the existing acne. Make sure to drink water just after exercising.

Apart from these healthy measures, you need to take some external measures to maintain a healthy skin throughout. Always apply sunscreen before stepping out in the sunlight. It will protect the skin from UV rays and prevent damage. Try to avoid junk food consciously, even amidst the celebrations. Maintain an active lifestyle by indulging into any form of exercise of your choice. These small changes can do wonders for getting a long-term healthy skin.
