In winter, you need to keep an eye on your hydration levels. So, to make sure you're replenishing your body with enough fluid, try these 5 hydrating drinks.

During the winter, dehydration is a typical issue. It can result in a variety of problems such as dry skin, wooziness and many other health problems. Since the body experiences less thirst during the winter, it is advised not to rely solely on thirst to determine when to consume water. Even when your body doesn’t indicate a need for water, you should still drink enough fluids throughout the day. Don’t load up on artificially sweetened beverages and alcohol! Here are a few healthy and hydrating drinks to keep your fluid intake levels in check.

Health Shots spoke to Dietitian Gauri Anand of Balanced Bites by Gauri to suggest the best drinks which can help you stay hydrated in winter.

Here are 5 hydrating drinks for winter:

1. Herbal teas

Herbal teas are a good way to combat dehydration because they are caffeine free. One of these teas is chamomile tea, which you can try. It is made from the chamomile flower and is used to treat a wide range of health issues. It is an organic natural tea made without preservatives. It helps to relieve muscle cramps and treats sleep disturbances. Additionally, it is believed to soothe anxiety, get rid of gas, improve digestion, lessen menstrual cramps, and promote relaxation.

2. Turmeric milk

Golden milk or turmeric milk is a great beverage to have before night. By keeping the body warm, this yellow latte can aid in restful sleep and make you feel pleasant even in the coldest conditions. It also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Although the nutrients and therapeutic qualities of turmeric cannot hydrate your body directly, they can assist improve your overall health. But remember, milk is hydrating.

3. Green juice

The daily fibre intake can be increased by mixing various vegetables and greens. They include a lot of important minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants. In order to absorb and maintain the proper level of hydration, our body also needs a combination of water, electrolytes, and fiber. Greens have every one of these qualities. Therefore, green juice is not only a fantastic way to enhance your health but it may also increase levels of hydration. It also helps to improve skin health in winter.

4. Ginger brew

When it comes to ginger, there are several advantages. It can help you control your blood pressure, weight, blood sugar, and even cancer-causing characteristics. It can also relieve motion sickness. Drinking ginger water or ginger tea is a great way to boost your hydration level. Additionally, it can help you stay warm during cold weather and lessen body aches, which is common during this time.

5. Hot soups

During the winter, drinking hot soups can be pleasant. They can be easily made by boiling veggies in water. With potatoes, carrots, turnips, peas, tomatoes, and other vegetables, you can make mixed vegetable soup. You may prepare spinach soup (palak) also to stay hydrated. Try adding mushrooms also in your soups as it can boost digestion.
