We all know the monsoon is in full swing and winter will come soon, and what’s better than that comforting cup of tea? It has a number of health advantages too! But teas can be helpful in burning belly fat if you add a few spices to them, for example, adrak.
Spices may improve your health in amazing ways! They can significantly contribute to maintaining the health of your intestines and can enhance your metabolism to help you lose weight. In fact, in addition to being used in cooking, spices are also used in the medicinal, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and fragrance industries. It’s all because spices include powerful antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are great for the upkeep of one’s health.
Health Shots reached out to Divya Gopal, Consultant – Dietitian/Nutritionist, Motherhood Hospital, Banashankari, Bengaluru, to know if drinking spiced teas can actually help in burning fat or not.
Gopal says, “It is a well-known fact that some tea recipes help in losing belly fat and weight loss. But if you are struggling with heavy weight, adding spices to tea can help you a lot.”
Add water, a pinch of turmeric, and a few mint leaves to the one and a half cups of water and bring it to a boil. After removing it from the heat, serve it warm with honey for sweetness. Mint leaves are high in fibre and extremely low in calories, and turmeric is strong in antiseptic and antibacterial characteristics that help prevent indigestion and inflammation. Together, these components can aid in belly fat reduction.
Given its delicious flavour and numerous advantages, ginger is the most popular spice to add to tea. It aids in decreasing inflammation, and the immune system is kept robust by the antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Add ginger, turmeric, and basil leaves to a pan with water and boil it for 10 minutes. Drink it hot. Gopal claims, “Ginger is a natural appetite suppressant, and it also helps in keeping your blood sugar levels stable.” Drink this tea daily to see better results.
The spiced tea, known as masala chai, is made up of several herbs and spices. For weight loss, take coriander seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, carom seeds, and cinnamon and roast and then grind them. Boil some water and add the spice powder to it to boil. Add lemon juice after it has cooled down, then serve. This tea can enhance insulin, control blood sugar levels, and speed up metabolism, all of which contribute to weight loss.
Cinnamon, also known as dalchini, is a favourite kitchen staple in Indian homes and for good reasons. Both anti-inflammatory and diabetic properties are present in it. Thus, it can enhance insulin sensitivity in women and lower blood sugar and cholesterol. It aids in weight loss because it makes you feel fuller for longer and speeds up the fat-burning process. Additionally, it possesses antioxidant qualities.
Cumin is known to relieve stomach pain, indigestion, and diarrhea. Roast some cumin seeds in a vessel on a low flame and add water to it and let it boil. Cover the lid for a few minutes. Serve the tea with some honey. According to Gopal, drinking is one of the best ways to boost metabolism and for quick weight loss.
The last word
Even as you may nosh on these spiced teas, don’t forget that weight loss efforts can be totally futile unless you eat right and exercise well. Spiced teas or any diets are no substitute for a holistic and healthy lifestyle.
