The second wave of Covid-19 spread panic and caused havoc in people’s lives.  And now, with the increasing deadly coronavirus and its new variants spreading their web across the world, we are here talking all about being safe and the need for stronger immunity. Needless to say that exercise and healthy eating must be a part of your life, but how about also consuming healthy kadha to raise your guard.  

Everyone is required to adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols by wearing a mask, using sanitizer, staying at home, maintaining social distance, and getting vaccinated. But experts are also recommending people to work on their immunity, which can equip them to give a tough fight to the likelihood of catching the infection.

Given below are some immunity boosting drinks or kadha suggestions that can be beneficial for you:

1. Golden (turmeric) milk

There is hardly anything that turmeric can’t do. “Turmeric can do wonders for your health. Since omicron cases are on the rise, one will have to boost immunity during these unprecedented times. You can opt for turmeric milk,” says Dr Jinal Patel, Dietitian, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Mumbai. So, just add some turmeric to the warm milk and have it at night. Turmeric contains antiviral and antibacterial properties that fight infection. Moreover, its anti-inflammatory property helps in relieving the symptoms of cough and cold. Tada, you will be able to stay healthy.

2. Tulsi and black pepper kadha

Your immunity goes for a toss during the winter season. To tackle the issue and prepare your body to fight the infection, your immunity needs a boost. And that you can provide with tulsi and black paper kadha. 

Dr Patel says, “Tulsi is a natural immunity booster and reduces fever (antipyretic), pain (analgesic), cough, and cold.” While on the other hand black paper has been known for antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help keep infections at bay and also provide relief from discomfort caused due to wounds and swelling. In addition, it is enriched with vitamin C which naturally boosts immunity and works as an excellent antibiotic. 

Add tulsi (basil), dalchini (cinnamon), kali mirch (black pepper), shunthi (dry ginger)  to the boiled water and your kadha is ready. Do not go overboard on this.

3. Giloy kadha

Since the advent of coronavirus, everyone has been trying out different nuskhe to strengthen their immune system. If you are trying kadha to boost immunity, one herb that you should definitely use to prepare kadha is giloy. Giloy is packed with medicinal properties not only does it boost immunity but also has antitoxic, antipyretic and antioxidant effects. Giloy can truly help your body heal and steer clear of viral infections.

To prepare it, boil water in a pan, add turmeric, black paper, giloy powder, cinnamon sticks and grated ginger to it. Boil it for five minutes and then add tulsi leaves, mint leaves and honey to the mixture. Sieve the mixture and drink it. 

4. Ginger tea

Green tea is rich in EGCG, a well-known antioxidant that fights cardiovascular diseases. Dr Patel also says, “This can do wonders to your health as it is loaded with antioxidants.” It is known to have a detoxification effect that can increase metabolism and boost immunity. It is less acidic and has less caffeine content.

5. Ajwain kadha
