Ayurvedic ingredients to ward off Covid-19 risk and stress:

1. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is also known as Indian ginseng. This ancient herb is very popular for its calming properties. These are of great use when it comes to relieving stress and anxiety during the pandemic. It shrinks the stress hormone, cortisol, in humans, and thereby, eases symptoms of anxiety and depression. Regular consumption of Ashwagandha also helps regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

One of the strongest ashwagandha extracts, the Ashwagandha KSM 66, is becoming famous nowadays. It acts as a stamina and strength supplement. It helps boost energy levels in people from all age brackets and improves immunity.

There are a plethora of Ashwagandha supplements in the form of tablets and powder available in the market. Indians widely consume this herb in their regular tea. Hence, a lot of tea leaves brands in India too include Ashwagandha as one of their key ingredients.

2. Valerian root

This relatively lesser-known ingredient works wonders for the human body. It helps alleviate symptoms of anxiety and relieve stress by boosting GABA levels in the body. This benefit is of special relevance in these stressful times where the air is thick with worry. Also, the mental health problems are at an all-time high. Valerian roots are also packed to the brim with antioxidants that help calm your body and mind and facilitate quality sleep.

One can consume valerian roots in the form of powder, tables, or tea on a daily basis. There are several ready-made options available for it in the market. However, if you wish to brew your own tea, you can do so by boiling 2-3 grams of valerian tea in water. Valerian root is best consumed shortly before you go to bed.

3. Saffron

Saffron helps boost immunity, reduce stress, and balance bodily fluids and hormones. It also assists in curbing the growth of cancerous cells. Its high antioxidant levels help alleviate PMS and boost mood. Lastly, the sunshine spice is also of help in fending off flu and the common cold. One can consume saffron by boiling a few threads in milk and consuming it at night. Therefore, this warm beverage will keep your body warm and protected against any viral diseases.
