You’re probably already aware of the fact that those above the age of 50 are more susceptible to severe illness when it comes to coronavirus. In such a situation, someone testing positive for the novel virus at the age of 105 is quite worrying simply because of the high chances of fatality.

So when 105-year-old Lucia DeClerck contracted coronavirus on her birthday, many around her were extremely worried about her life. But, the woman has beaten it all! In fact, she showed very few symptoms and was back to normal in just 2 weeks.

When asked how she has managed to live such a long and healthy life, she has a simple answer: gin-soaked raisins. “Nine raisins a day after it sits for nine days”, the lady told the media. Lucia has made it a point to consume exactly nine golden raisins soaked in gin throughout her life.

Meet, Lucia DeClerck.
Are natural hacks the secret to a long and healthy life?

Her family informed the media that Lucia has always been into natural hacks to maintain her health, including drinking aloe vera juice and brushing her teeth with baking soda. Apparently, the lady didn’t suffer from a single tooth cavity till she was 99!

“We would just think, ‘Grandma, what are you doing? You’re crazy. Now the laugh is on us. She has beaten everything that’s come her way”, according to her 53-year-old granddaughter Shawn Laws O’Neil.

What’s more, the second factor she believes helped her beat coronavirus was staying away from junk food. No wonder the lady is hale and hearty even after crossing a century.

A covid-19 vaccine might have a role to play here too

The strange part is that Lucia had been vaccinated a day after she had contracted her virus with her second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The doctors, however, believe that this factor has probably contributed to Lucia not experiencing severe symptoms of the disease and helped her fight it.

Her family is, of course, absolutely glad that their grandmother is safe and healthy. In fact, her granddaughter Shawn said they’re now calling her ‘“The 105-year-old badass who kicked covid.”

This is an extremely positive piece of news, something we all really need amidst the pandemic that has turned everyone’s life upside down. A story of hope, Lucia’s recovery is receiving congratulations from all over the world.
