As the threat of a third Covid-19 wave looms large, Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Amrita Arora have tested positive for the virus. According to reports, ‘Bollywood wives’ Maheep Kapoor and Seema Khan have also contracted the infection.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) confirmed Kareena and Amrita’s Covid-19 positive tests via a statement, reported ANI.
“Actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Amrita Arora tested positive for Covid-19. Both of them had violated Covid norms and attended several parties. BMC has ordered people, who came in contact with the two actors, to undergo RT-PCR tests,” read the statement.
Both Kareena and Amrita, who are close friends, took to their respective Instagram Stories to urge everyone who came in contact with them to get themselves tested for the virus.
“I have tested positive for Covid. I immediately isolated myself while following all medical protocols. I request anyone who has come in contact with me to please get tested. My family and staff are also double vaccinated. They are currently not showing any symptoms. Thankfully, I am feeling ok and hope to be up and about soon,” read Kareena’s statement.
Here’s what Amrita had to say.
“I have tested positive for COVID. I am following all the medical guidelines and BMC rules. Anyone who has been in contact with me, please get tested. My family and staff are all fully vaccinated and have all tested negative. Stay safe, stay responsible.”
The BFFs often party together. Just last week, they not just attended a friend-cum-siblings get together at producer Rhea Kapoor’s home, but also a house party by filmmaker Karan Johar. The latter even had actors Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in attendance.
“The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” stars Seema Khan and Maheep Kapoor were also a part of the party.
Kareena’s spokesperson has said that while the actress has been “extremely responsible” throughout the lockdown period, “unfortunately she and Amrita Arora contracted Covid-19 at an intimate dinner”.
“Among the group, there was one person who seemed unwell and was coughing, and who eventually passed it on. This person should have been responsible enough to not attend the dinner and put others at risk,” added the spokesperson, asserting that it was not fair to put the blame on Kareena.
The Covid-19 scare is palpable once again.
The emergence of the new variant Omicron across the globe especially has been making a buzz in the past few weeks. The government, World Health Organization and medical experts have been reiterating the need for people to practice Covid-19 protocols and safety guidelines.
