We couldn’t believe our eyes when this notification popped up on our mobile screens – “Actor Irrfan Khan died at 53 in Mumbai.” Another big blow from the year 2020.

Irrfan Khan was one of the most raved Bollywood actors who has proven his metal in the West as well. He was suffering from colon infection. In fact before he started filming for his last movie, Angrezi Medium, he was in the UK getting treatment for neuroendocrine tumour which he was diagnosed with in 2018.

Irrfan came back to India in February 2019 and his fans breathed a sigh of relief as he announced he is hale and hearty. But today the news of his demise has been a massive blow for all of us.

On 28th April, the actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The official statement from Irrfan Khan’s spokesperson came yesterday stating  that there is no need to panic. But today morning it was confirmed that one of our favorite Bollywood stars is no more.

After the demise of the Irrfan Khan, an official statement came on behalf of his family:
“I trust, I have surrendered”; These were the some of the many words that Irrfan expressed in a heart-felt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer. And a man of few words and an actor of silent expressions with his deep eyes and his memorable actions on screen.

After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of a rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, “As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it.”

This news has sent a shock wave among the Bollywood as well and everyone is posting their condolences across social media.

On Saturday, Irrfan Khan’s mother, Saeeda Begum, breathed her last in Jaipur and sadly, the actor couldn’t attend her funeral due to the nationwide lockdown.
