Staying fit and exercising is not just healthy for your mind, but it is much required for your body too!. While exercise helps in losing weight sooner or later, if you want to see results in a short period of time, then choosing the right kind of exercise is a must.
No expert will recommend you go for instant weight loss programs, since they are not sustainable. But if for some reason, you still want to give it a shot, then try to stay away from these exercises.
Don’t get shocked, ladies. Although yoga has immense benefits to offer, sadly it cannot help you lose weight instantly. It can certainly help you to lose weight in the long run, but if you are looking for short-term weight loss, then yoga really isn’t for you.
However, you can include power yoga poses such as surya namaskar to burn more calories.
Ms Bhavani Pinisetti, yoga and pilates expert and founder of Laxmana Yoga & Pilates says, “Asanas such as sukshma vyayama( loosening exercise), sleeping pigeon (Eka pada rajakapotasana), shavasana, bhujangasana, malasana, pawana muktasana, and makarasana will not help you with weight loss in the short term.
Many people still believe that only going for a jog can help you to lose weight, but that’s a complete misconception. Although jogging has numerous benefits, jogging alone isn’t helpful enough to burn a lot of calories, and will not help you lose weight in a short period of time. However, if you want to lose weight, interval running is a much better option to go for.
Pilates improves your flexibility and balance, but if you are looking for fast fat burn, then it is not the kind of exercise to go for. Pilates help in the gradual building of muscle strength, and does not work for instant weight loss.
4. Extended cardio sessions
If you’re only doing cardio and not balancing it out with strength training, you might be losing muscle mass instead of fat, and we are sure you don’t want that!
5. Spot reduction exercises
Many people target only a specific area or region for fat or weight loss, and keep exerting only those muscle groups. But, it isn’t possible to lose fat from a specific part of your body, and that too, in a short span of time.
You can only lose weight by creating a calorie deficit in your body, with a combination of diet and exercise, so stop exerting a particular muscle group!
