On the show, she was also seen talking vividly about her time as assistant director for cousin Janhvi Kapoor’s movie Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. If you don’t already know it, Shanaya Kapoor is an excellent dancer. In fact, she has a keen interest in belly dancing and has been learning the dance form, under the guidance of Sanjana Muthreja, a celebrity belly dance trainer.

Thanks to Shanaya, many people have begun to take interest in the dance form that has its origin in the Middle East, and is known to involve only the movement of the upper body. A closer understanding of the dance form will make you realize that it is actually perfect to strengthen your core.

Yes, you heard it right! Belly dancing is all about the controlled movement of your abdominal and pelvic area. Hence, with regular belly dancing sessions, you can end up:

  • Strengthening your core region, helping with your other workouts
  • Working out the abdominal area and burning all the fat
  • A toned midriff
  • Improved control over your body movement
  • Better posture

Ladies, we don’t quite realize how important it is to have a strong core. It is the area that helps us maintain balance and plays an important role in our mobility, especially when we’re working out. What’s more, a strong core can also aid the process of childbirth by strengthening the muscles involved.

An important aspect of belly dancing as a workout is that there is minimal chance of injury. It is all about moving to your favourite music without a care! You can see Shanaya do exactly that in her latest post. She also revealed that she has ‘the best time doing a drum solo.’

Watching Shanaya belly dance will definitely inspire you to sign up for this dance form, and tone that belly!
