How you start your day can set the tone for how your whole day goes! Hence, it is important to begin the day with the right mindset. Honestly, there’s nothing better than yoga when it comes to this. The ancient fitness system doesn’t just benefit our physical health but also improves our mental well-being. When it is a working day and you want to make it as productive as possible, trust specific yoga asanas to provide you with the focus and concentration you need. One such asana is the Eka pada Vasisthasana which is often also called the one-legged side plank.

As the name suggests, this asana involves balancing the body using only one leg and one arm. Not only is it great for strength and developing a good balance but can also enable you to develop mental focus.

None other than Bollywood celebrity Shilpa Shetty swears by this yoga pose! The actress often refers to herself as a ‘minfdul yogi’ due to being a regular practitioner of yoga. This time around, she took to Instagram to speak about the one-legged side plank. Shilpa posted a video of herself practising the Eka pada Vasisthasana.

In the video, Shilpa can be seen first balancing herself on one hand and leg. Next, she holds up the other arm up in the air and fixes her eyes on it to develop balance. She holds the asana for a couple of seconds before coming back to the ground.

Emphasising on starting the day with yoga, she wrote, “It is so important to start your day with the right frame of mind. Honestly, for me, nothing works better than Yoga when I need to delve into a day or week full of activities with a clear head and a rather high level of energy.”

Shilpa Shetty also highlighted the multiple benefits of this yoga asana:
  1. It works very well to help improve balance, concentration, and focus.
  2. It also helps strengthen and improve flexibility in the wrist; while strengthening the forearms, shoulders, and spine.
  3. It also works on strengthening and toning the obliques, and stabilising the core.

Overall, this routine helps her to start off her day on an energetic note.
