Brr… That’s what the weather makes us do these days! It’s so cold outside that the last thing you want to do is put on your shoes and go outdoors to work out. In fact, it’s such a struggle getting out of our blankets every morning that it feels like we’ve torturing ourselves. You just want to curl up in your bed, and down cups of steaming hot chocolate.

Well well well, having fun in the winter season is great, but you also need to take care of your fitness needs. But what do you do when it’s too cold outside, and you want to workout? Well, you find some exercises that can be performed indoors and can also make you feel warm! We promise they are easy to do, and will keep you fit.

Are you ready to find out?

1. Jump rope

This is one of the simplest and most effective exercises you can perform at home. What’s more, it is a full-body workout, so you don’t have to do anything else! All you need is a skipping rope, and you can burn those calories in no time. Do you know 10 minutes of jump rope is said to be equivalent to running for eight minutes? Plus, even if you skip at a moderate rate, you can burn 10 to 16 calories a minute. When you use your entire body to perform this exercise, you also build strength. So, leave everything, and perform this exercise to stay fit during the winter season.

2. Bodyweight training

As the name suggests, you don’t need anything else, but your own body weight to perform these exercises. So, wear your workout gear, put on some peppy music, and combine cardio moves with strength exercises. That means it’s time to do those jumping jacks, high knees, push-ups, lunges and squats. Trust us, you’ll build lean muscle and move an inch closer to your dream of a fit and fabulous physique. Also, the best part is that you don’t need any equipment for this. You can start anywhere you like!

3. Yoga

If you don’t want to do a rigorous workout, but want something that works out your muscles in a more gentle manner, then it’s best you go for yoga. Not only does it improve strength and flexibility, but it also helps to get rid of fatigue, stress as well as anxiety. You could use some YouTube tutorials for help or enroll yourself in an online class. All in all, it will help you keep fit during the winter season, and calm you down too!

4. Dancing

Who doesn’t like playing their favourite numbers, and dancing like there’s no tomorrow? Well, it’s a great stress buster, but it also works well to keep you in shape, when you can’t step outdoors for a workout. Not many know that dancing is a type of low-impact cardio. Research suggests that dancing for 30 minutes can burn anywhere between 130 and 250 calories, which is similar to jogging. Now, that sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

5. Hula hooping

This is another fun way to work out during the winter season. Just get hold of a hula hoop, check some beginner-level tutorials on YouTube, and get going. All you need to do is pick an area in your home that has enough space for you to do the hula hooping workout. Blast your favourite tunes, and beat the winter blues!
