Shilpa Shetty believes that yoga can help us maintain our overall health and achieve it all. She often shares snippets of her fitness regimen on her Instagram account. She recently took to her IG account to share a video showcasing some yoga stretches that can help you relax. In the video, the 47-year-old actor can be seen performing a yoga routine starting with Virabhadrasana.

Benefits of doing these yoga stretches

In the video, Shilpa wrote about the benefits of these yoga stretches that can help you in more ways than one. “A sedentary lifestyle does more harm than we can ever imagine. Giving your body the much-needed stretch every day is crucial. A little while ago, I started practicing the ‘Virabhadrasana to Baddha Virabhadrasana to Prasarita Padottanasana’ flow. It works wonders! Not only does it help stimulate the nervous system and abdominal organs, but also opens the lungs and chest.”

Further stating the benefits, she shares that these yoga asanas will help stretch your shoulders, arms, legs, back, and neck. The benefits of these yoga asanas don’t end here, it also opens up the hips and strengthens your legs and ankles. She also shares that it can help you calm your mind.

Virabhadrasana

This is the first variation of the Warrior pose, which is a foundational pose that improves flexibility and strengthens your muscles. Baddha Virabhadrasana

This yoga pose is an advanced version of the first asana mentioned here. It is also called the Humble Warrior Pose which helps draw the focus on your inner self. Not only does it stretch and strengthen your muscles, but it also improves flexibility, awareness, and concentration and gets rid of negative emotions. It is also a great exercise to strengthen your core.

Prasarita Padottanasana

Also known as wide-legged standing forward bend, this yoga asana serves as a substitute for people who find it hard to perform a headstand or Sirasana. It is a good pose for people as it helps stretch your hamstrings, calves, and hips. It also strengthens your feet, ankles, and legs, thus helping you have a stronger lower back.
