Pregnancy may be one of the biggest joys in a woman’s life, but that doesn’t mean, it doesn’t come with its highs and lows. There are several bodily changes that happen, which may throw your life out of whack at times. But if you are someone who is active and has no complications, it is important to follow a regular fitness regime that includes aerobic and strength conditioning exercises. You must look into a set of exercises during pregnancy, and actress Kajal Aggarwal has some suggestions to make!
In an Instagram post, Kajal shared about the secret to staying fit during her ongoing pregnancy. She reveals that Pilates and Barre have helped her body change for the better before and throughout her pregnancy.
If you’re looking for an answer to how, here’s what Kajal says! “This transformative approach has me feeling stronger, longer, and leaner. The goal of aerobic conditioning in pregnancy should be to maintain a good fitness level throughout without trying to reach peak fitness.”
When you are pregnant, your body releases a hormone called relaxin that causes ligaments in your body to become more flexible. This, in turn, can lead to pelvic pain and lower back issues. When you work towards strengthening your abdominal muscles, you are less likely to develop these other issues.
With regular practice of Pilates, you also learn to improve your posture. Since your posture undergoes a shift as your baby grows, doing regular movement under the guidance of an expert is very important.
The weight of your baby as well as the hormonal changes that your body goes through during pregnancy can weaken your pelvic floor muscles. Thanks to Pilates, these muscles get strengthened and also help to prevent urinary incontinence, which is common during pregnancy.
Breathing is a key focus, as part of all prenatal Pilates classes, and proves to be helpful for both the mother and baby. Having control over breathing also helps these mothers through labour. Sometimes, stiffness in your upper back can develop, as a result of the belly growing. Exercises like opening up your arms can also help to enhance flexibility.

While gaining weight is a part of pregnancy, it is important to stay within an optimum range, for the health of the mother and baby. It can also cause the mother to contract gestational diabetes. That’s why, exercising daily can help to maintain a healthy weight, so that your journey is rather smooth!
Whatever exercises you may choose to do, please consult your doctor first so that the type, duration and intensity of your physical movements, is tailored to your needs and ability.
