If you’ve been living the Instagram life-i.e. been scanning your Insta news feed day in and out-then you must come have come across the viral handstand t-shirt challenge.

Quite a sight to see, this challenge is keeping people engaged at home during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

If have no clue what we’re talking about, then read on:

This is how the handstand T-shirt challenge started
The handstand t-shirt challenge was first made viral by actor Tom Holland. The Spider-Man actor posted the video of performing the challenge of wearing a t-shirt while doing a handstand on April 1 on his Instagram story.

After successfully completing the challenge, the actor nominated his fellow Spider-Man: For From Home co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, and school friend Harrison Osterfield. And it spread like wildfire from there…

So, how can you do the challenge?
Those who accept the challenge will have to perform handstand by resting their feet on a wall and then taking a t-shirt on one hand and gradually wearing it while retaining the position.

A number of celebrities have undertaken the viral challenge since then.

Olympian Lolo Jones, not only performed the challenge but put on two T-shirts while hanging upside down and in between sips of wine. She even thanked the actors for doing the challenge, saying, “First I want to thank them for having their shirt off because I haven’t seen a man in 25 days.”

when I saw Spider-Man and @jakegyllenhaal do a handstand challenge with one shirt… first I want to thank them for having their shirt off because I haven’t seen a man in 25 days and also ⁣ All this and yup still can’t do a free standing handstand. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣#day28 #quarantine #handstandchallenge⁣ ⁣ @jakegyllenhaal @tomholland2013 ⁣

Gymnast Simone Biles too took up the challenge. However she transcended it to a whole different level by taking off a pair of sweatpants and hilariously offering a commentary while struggling with the second leg.

Closer home, Mandira Bedi recently took part in the T-shirt challenge.

“I’ll take the #tshirtchallenge and raise you one. I have often been told, you should wear more clothes, and so here I go, attempting to get dressed!! I have left every grunt for you to hear, so you can sense and feel my discomfort doing this! #day241 #tshirtandshorts #challenge #365daysofexercise #365daychallenge #nobhay #getfitwithmandy #mandirabedi #selflove #fitindiamovement #happyfornoreason,” she shared.

De De Pyaar De actress Rakul Preet too participated in the viral challenge, posting a video alongside the caption, “Was just bored of wearing my tee the normal way #quarantinelife #weekendchallenge. So, here is a task for all of you to do. It’s like a super elevated plank, amazing for your core. Anshuka Parwani, Rhea Chakraborty and akansharanjankapoor I nominate u to take this up #strongisthenewsexy #strongereveryday.”

Ranchi Diaries actress Soundarya Sharma took the challenge too. Revealing that she has a cervical certebrae deformity, the actress said she still has challenged herself to the task, alongside a video of successfully completing it.

Fitness influencer Natasha Noel also took the challenge, and wore not just a t-shirt but also yoga pants while doing a handstand–which she herself in the caption admits is not an easy feat.
