When you lift weight, 95% of the credit goes to your hands. But unfortunately, most of us don’t pay heed to the basic thing that can make or break your fitness game. And that small thing is wearing a wristband or a wrist wrap while working out.

In fact, you should use wrist wrap if you indulge in crossfit as well because it involves a lot of rope training and floor exercises that put immense pressure on your wrist. So, it’s best that you look after this body part too.

Now, its time to deep dive and see five reasons that you need a wrist band while working out:

1. To avoid injuries
Wristbands and wrist wraps provide proper support to your wrist joints. Due to this jerk and sprain don’t damage the bone and the muscle tissues. In fact, a study published in the journal Hindawi also suggests that if someone has issues with their bone density then wearing a wristband while exercising or playing sports is a must for them.

2. For better grip
When your wrist bone and muscles get proper support from the wristband, you tend to have a better grip on barbells and dumb-bells. A study published in a journal called Trauma Monthly ratifies it too.

3. To reduce muscle strain
When you do crossfit or weight training your muscles bear the maximum strain. But if you use a wristband then it will not just reduce the strain on your wrist but because you have a better grip it will also lower the strain on your muscles too.

And according to a study published in the Orthopedic Journal of Sports Medicine, people who power lift only train with their wristbands and wraps on to avoid muscle strain.

4. To move right
Have you ever noticed the movement of your wrist while doing bicep curls? If not then please show it to your trainer or an expert and ask whether your wrist is moving fine or not. Sadly, in most of the cases, you’ll find that the movement is not right. Due to this, you end up with sore muscles and less contraction in the target muscles.

We have a suggestion: wear a wristband and check your movement now. You’ll see a stark difference because this small wrap rectifies it by providing better support and a study published in the journal of Frontier in Human Neuroscience backs our recommendation too.

5. To lift heavier
If you are trying to gain muscle then wearing a wristband is a mandate for you as you are going to lift more weight. And if you aren’t able to lift heavy weight then wearing a wristband can help you find your stride too.

In fact, a study published in the Journal of Sports Science and Medicine also suggests that it helps in improving your overall performance in weight training.

Few things to remember before you slap on the wristband:

  • Do a little wrist warm-up before wearing it.
  • Don’t tie it too tight.
  • Go with the one which is adjustable like with a Velcro or adjusting band.

So, ladies now please ensure that you have a pair of wristbands in your gym bag when next time you workout.
