Malaika Arora is undoubtedly one of Bollywood’s fittest celebrities. Besides taking care of her diet and following a mix of simple and complex physical activities like pilates and gym routines to keep her health in check, she also regularly indulges in yoga. And her fans know it thanks to her Instagram updates. In her latest post, the actress has performed the ‘king of yoga asanas’! Do you know which pose is that?

It is Sirsasana or the headstand. A little mobility and upside-down practice with the ‘king of yoga postures’ not only increases your upper body strength and stamina but improves overall body functionality.

“One of my favourite poses is the headstand. What is yours,” Malaika posted on Instagram, along with a video in which she is seen with a trainer.

Malaika also regularly motivates her fans and Instagram followers to take on fitness challenges. She urged them to try the Sirsasana too. But a word of caution here – do not try it without prior training or with a trainer around – just like Malaika has one.

This yoga asana looks highly complex and also requires immense practice. But given how Malaika is regular with the practice, she aces it with grace!

Safety measures to follow while performing yoga asana Sirsasana

There are certain safety measures that you should follow while performing or learning the headstand position. Though headstand has numerous benefits, it involves a few risks to the neck, shoulder, and back pain, that shouldn’t be ignored.

BMI

Keep an idea of your risk of weight-related issues.

Check BMI
  • Always start it with a trainer or yoga teacher: You may not understand the alignment and posture while being upside-down. It is essential to perform it under an expert as they can help you align your body and support your body
  • Avoid compressing your head and neck
  • Don’t kick up immediately, instead raise yourself against the floor. Maybe you don’t have the flexibility and core strength initially. Perform it carefully as it can cause spine injury
  • Use a wall instead. Using a wall will definitely give you physical as well as emotional support initially.
  • Place folded blankets and cushions around you. If you tumble over it will not hurt you badly. Moreover, you will have a soft landing.

Ladies, try out this yoga position for a healthy and calm mind.
