Ten kilos or 15–which one to go for at the gym? Well, I used to wonder that every morning at the gym. Do you know why? Because if I went for a 10-kilo dumb-bell then there was nothing for me to gain, and lifting 15 kilos meant slowing down on reps.

So, each morning I would search for a middle ground that would offer me fruitful strength training and muscle mass. Today, I am here to tell you that I found it! Brace yourself ladies as I am going to present to you resistance training!

I only have one word to describe this form of workout and that’s–phenomenal.
I still wonder how a simple elastic band can nurture your muscle mass the way it does! So, let me take you through my resistance training journey and nudge you into trying it.

Here’s why resistance training is so revered
Traditionally, weight training means lifting metal in the gym–but the only problem is that the more weight you lift, the higher your risk of injury. And I have had my fair share of that.

But that’s not the case with resistance training–and we’ve got the elastic band to thank for that. The latex band ensures high tension and maximum results. After all, muscling up is all about contraction and relaxation–and that’s what these bands help you do.

Plus, it helps you focus on muscle groups. Then may it be your leg muscles or biceps. In fact, ever since I’ve started resistance training, I am more agile.
If you want more reasons to trust in the power of resistance training, here are four that I can personally vouch for:

1. Muscle strength FTW!
This is the biggest change I have witnessed in my body after adopting resistance training, and now I feel so strong that I can also give those 15 kilo dumb-bells a shot.

2. Back pain! What’s that?
I love wearing backless tops, but to flaunt them you can’t fault me for working out to get a chiselled back. But unfortunately, my back used to hurt a lot after deadlifts and lat pulldowns. But not anymore. Resistance training has helped me with that too. Now my back is in shape and I don’t even remember what back pain even feels like. I mean what a relief!

3. It’s helped me tone up majorly!
Holding a stance while lifting those dumb-bells is the key to burning fat, toning up muscle, and to getting those curves. But let me tell you that it’s easier said than done. And struggling with dumb-bells for hours in the gym without any result was disheartening. Resistance training, on the other hand, has helped me achieve all that because of the contraction involved.

4. I can do resistance training anytime, anywhere
I can’t even begin to tell you how many parties I have ditched just because I don’t want to miss my training. My dumb-bells can’t go everywhere you see. But these bands, I can train at work, in the Himalayas, and of course, even at home.
