Go on a Google search and you will find a range of articles that claim to make your breasts look bigger with certain exercises.
But is it really possible to make them look bigger in size without any medical intervention? And if the answer to that question is a ‘yes’, then why are breast implants even in trend?
Well, if you truly want an honest answer then nope, there is no scientific evidence to show that exercising can make your breasts bigger. Hear what Ruchika Rai, Mumbai-based women’s fitness and health coach as well as the founder of Combat Yogini Program, has to say about this myth.
“Nope, you can’t increase your breast size with exercise”, says Ruchika Rai
First, let’s understand what exercising or weight training does to your chest. When you exercise, your muscles get impacted. The contraction and relaxation of your muscles tone the area, making it more defined and sculpted.
“Well, there is no denying that exercises help in increasing the muscle size but the fact is that your breast doesn’t have any muscles. They are made of tissues and there is no scientific theory which says that exercise helps in increasing the tissue size in your body”, she says.
So, this straight away throws the idea of exercises increasing your breast size out of the window. But before you dump this thought completely, you might want to hear what our expert has to tell you.
Exercise helps in lifting up your boobs but only a little, says Ms. Rai
You might have heard that doing push-ups, planks, pull-ups, and what not can uplift your saggy breasts. Turns out, what you’ve heard is actually true. Now, let’s understand the science behind it.
“When you do chest exercises, the muscles below your breast tighten up and become firm. They grow a little due to which it gives your boobs a little push but that push is not as huge as you can get from breast enlargement. That’s why, please don’t have high hopes with exercises,” she says.
So, what are the exercises that aid this push?
“So, if you want to tighten up your saggy breast, you can definitely try doing push-ups, shoulder tap push-ups, chest press, plank walk, and butterfly. For butterfly you can also use a 2.5 kg dumbbell for more contraction,” she concluded.
Now, this debate can very well be put to rest! Exercises cannot make your breast bigger but can help push up your saggy breasts by a small margin.
