It is highly unlikely that gyms will be opening anytime soon. And even if they do, it won’t be a great idea to rush to them because the COVID-19 threat is going to stay here for some time. Unfortunately, your muscles won’t understand that the pandemic is stopping you from working on them. This might lead to you losing out on all the progress you’ve made with them. Heartbreaking, isn’t it?

The good news is that now you can make your home gym a reality. And just so you know, you don’t need to spend too much to bring your gym home. Plus, there are various cost-effective things that you can order online which will help you work on each and every muscle in your body.

These are the seven must-have items for your home gym:

1. Yoga mat
Well, this one is a must-have if you want to pull off some pilates and floor exercises. A nice yoga mat will provide you better grip and there are less chances of you falling or slipping. Also, when you will be working on your abs, having a yoga mat will help in cushioning your spine so that back pain doesn’t bug you.

2. Kettlebell
For your sides, shoulders, abs, and arms, kettlebell is a one-stop-shop. You can do multiple exercises like side bend, front raise, shrugs, weighted ab twists, and bicep curls, with this one piece of equipment. Plus, it will also help you with cardio. Using it, you can do a kettlebell swing, kettlebell squats, kettlebell snatch, and many other exercises. If you are a beginner, getting a 4kg and 6kg kettlebell is enough for your home gym.

3. Dumbbells
We all know that dumbbells are the key to muscle gain, whether you’re working on your back, chest, or arms. The only thing that you need to decide is what are the weights that will suit you. What we will suggest is that if you are a beginner, then a 2.5 to 7.5 kg bracket will serve the purpose. For intermediate and advanced folks, you can go up to 12kgs. The rest all depends on how far you want to go.

4. Skipping rope
Sasta, sundar, and the most teekau gym equipment is a skipping rope. It doesn’t need much space, is totally inexpensive, and gives you the best result whether it’s weight loss or muscle gain. You can pull off a cardio routine with this one and it also targets different muscle groups like quads, arms, shoulders, core, and calves. So, do put this one on your wish list.

5. Resistance band
If muscle gain is on your mind, you must have these bands handy. The best part about them is that you can take them anywhere because they hardly take any space. At gyms, you can get all shapes and sizes of dumb-bells but that is not possible at home. With resistance bands, you just have to choose between light, medium, heavy, and extra heavy. You’ll be good to go!

6. Ankle weights
Your body gets used to your own weight and therefore, to push it a little more, you might need the help of wrist or ankle weights. There are various brands that are available in the market which provide you multi-purpose weights that you can wrap around your wrist or leg to take your work out a notch higher. With these, you can power through exercises like skipping, jumping jacks, burpees, leg raises, and knee highs.

7. Stability Ball
Stability ball is an amazing equipment to have at home for core exercises. Plus, the cushioning and flexibility it gives you while exercising is just phenomenal.
