Dr Ramen Goel, MS, FRCS, FMBS, IFASMBS, is consultant diabetes and bariatric surgeon at Wockhardt Hospitals. He trained hundreds of surgeons in safe laparoscopy as Professor of Surgery at Grant Medical College, Mumbai from 1994-2010. He started bariatric surgery in 2001. He is a founder member of Obesity Surgery Society of India affiliated to IFSO. He is past President of All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity (AIAARO) and of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (IAGES) (2020-2021). Other achievements of Dr Goel include Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (FRCS) in 2020, Fellowship by the Obesity Surgery Society of India (FMBS) in 2020 and Fellowship by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons in 2021.
