Of all the beauty and skincare products out there, a face mist is the most underrated product. You still might be limiting its role to plain old hydration. However, by doing so, you are selling this product short – because its benefits go far and beyond.
Turns out, a good facial mist is the best of both worlds. It is a handy beauty product you need, and it also adheres to your daily skincare regimen. You can easily put one in your bag and be ready to spritz it anytime your skin feels dull or dry.
Health Shots got in touch with Dr Kiran Sethi, a skin and wellness expert, to know about some easy DIY face mists that can be made and to understand some of their benefits.
Dr Sethi recommends some of the following easy-to-make face mists for various skin needs. For all of these, normal, filtered water is suggested to start with.
Brew any good quality green tea and put that in a spray bottle, and use it as a mist. Green tea is known to do wonders for oily and acne-prone skin. Not only does it work on clogged pores, but it also curbs the formation of new acne due to excess sebum production.
Add 1-2 teaspoons of honey to the water and add 1-2 teaspoons of glycerin to it, and your list is ready. Honey is extremely hydrating and moisturizes even the driest of skin types. It also has soothing and healing properties. It aids in nourishing damaged skin and can help face those pesky acne scars.
For this mist, you can solubilize tea tree oil in water, and use it as a face mist. Tea tree oil is the best natural ingredient out there that helps treat acne. Its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help curb the further growth of bacteria that can cause sebum production or acne.
Apart from the aforementioned benefits, a good face mist offers several other perks.
Some of the face mists have a range of essential oils and plant extracts in them. The aroma of these ingredients is therapeutic and soothes the nerves, helping one to relax.
A face mist in itself is an important part of the skincare ritual. There is always something soothing about their fragrance and cooling properties that always feel refreshing and indulgent as soon as you spritz them on your face.
Some face mists are a powerhouse of anti-oxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, or ferulic acid.
A quick spray of your face mist after full face makeup can leave a dewy finish and help set it for longer hours.
Depending on the kind of face mist you are using, some have ingredients that protect the face from environmental stressors such as blue light.
