Visiting a salon on a regular basis to bleach your skin and lighten your facial hair can be costly and time-consuming. Also, the chemicals in the products can damage your skin. There are a few methods that can help lighten your facial hair naturally if you want to avoid using chemicals. The natural ways to lighten facial hair may not be as effective as bleach and may require consistent use. However, it is a better way to lighten your facial hair than relying on chemical products that may damage your skin profusely.

How to lighten facial hair naturally?

You can use kitchen ingredients to lighten facial hair. Here are some home remedies that can help you:

1. Lemon juice

Lemon is a great source of vitamin C, which is frequently used to treat pigmentation. It is also commonly used in cosmetic bleaching agents. As a result, it might aid in reducing facial hair, says Dr Chytra V. Anand, a dermatologist. Squeeze some lemon juice in a bowl. Now, dip a cotton ball in a spoonful of lemon juice and dab it on your face. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing it with water. Do this once each day.

2. Turmeric and lemon juice

A mixture of turmeric and lemon juice can help in lightening facial hair. Make a thick paste by combining lemon juice and turmeric powder. Using a cotton ball, apply it all over your face and let it sit for 10 to15 minutes. Give your face a good water rinse. Do this twice every week.

3. Tomatoes and lemon juice

Tomatoes are high in vitamin C, so a mixture of tomato and lemon juice can help to lighten facial hair. Grind tomatoes into a paste. Combine this paste with one teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply the mixture on the affected parts properly and
leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing it with cold water. You can use this home remedy once or twice a week.

But before using any natural remedies, do a patch test to check for allergic reactions, suggests Dr Anand.

What are the side effects of bleaching the face?

Here are the reasons why bleaching is not the healthiest way to lighten facial hair:

  • Bleaching products can cause redness, itching and a burning sensation, especially in those with sensitive skin.
  • Incorrect use of the bleaching products can lead to chemical burns.
  • Some people may develop allergic reactions to the ingredients in bleaching products.

What are the side effects of waxing the face?

Waxing your arms and legs is one things, but using the hot wax on face is another. Here are some side effects of waxing your face:

  • Skin irritation and redness may happen immediately after waxing, but usually subside within a few hours.
  • Waxing can be painful, as it involves pulling hair from the roots.
  • Poor waxing techniques can lead to ingrown hairs.
  • Small bumps or rashes can occur, but typically resolve quickly.

Facial hair is common among women, who visit salons for bleaching treatments in an effort to reduce the visibility of facial hair. Any of these chemical processes could instantly lighten facial hair but remember, these chemical methods may cause harm to the skin over time, says Dr Anand. So, it is best to try to lighten facial hair naturally rather than using chemicals.
