Grapes can protect you against UV damage to the skin: Study

Eating grapes can help prevent skin damage from UV rays, found a study published in the journal Antioxidants. Naturally occurring polyphenols found in grapes is another reason why grapes are a good addition to your skincare regimen.

For the study, the team enrolled 29 volunteers who were given whole grape powder (2 1/4 cups of grapes every day) for fourteen days. The researchers compared the reaction of subjects to UV light before and after they had consumed grapes for two weeks. It was found that one-third of the patients showed UV resistance after consuming grapes.

Grapes shield your skin from free radicals and UV radiation, which in turn protects you from signs of ageing like wrinkles, dark spots, and skin cancer. The additional vitamin C is important for your skin to produce collagen, which contributes to the youthful firmness of your face. Since grapes are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, they can also help make your skin look younger.
