Every so often you come across a miracle product that offers to solve all your skincare woes. While good things come to those who wait, good skin comes to those who pay big bucks–because that miracle will cost you.
I, personally, have splurged on everything–from the latest K Beauty brands to that luxury serum formulated with 24-carat gold and tears of acne-riddled teenagers–only to find that money really can’t buy you good skin.
A firm believer of the philosophy that home-made formulations work best (I swear by the benefits of a coffee and yogurt face masque), I have entered my 30s with glowing skin and a healthy bank balance. And I’ve only got my maa ke nuskhe to thank for that.
But, as effective as haldi-chandan concoctions are–they are also cumbersome. After a long day at work, I really don’t want to turn my pantry upside down for besan to exfoliate at midnight. Which is why, when a friend suggested this scrub–I thought, why not.
The product: Wldflwr Ntrls Clarifying and Toning Face Scrub
Made with neem oil and licorice extracts, this Wildflower Naturals scrub retails for Rs 350–which for the 80 grams of product isn’t a bad deal.
It has zero chemicals and offers the goodness of aloe vera gel, green tea, turmeric, olive oil, almond oil, vitamin E, and ground walnut shells that help exfoliate. It claims to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, offering smooth and radiant skin.
What’s so great about this product?
Honestly, I am a little vary of products that claim to be natural or organic–mostly because they almost always show zero results on my skin. But this gentle scrub really does deliver on the soft and supple part.
My combination skin gets really rough and dull–especially in the winter when dry patches make their presence known. This product from Wldflwr Ntrls combats that by sloughing off dead skin cells gently–without drying out my skin.
Moreover, the exfoliating particles dissolve after as you massage the product into your skin–thus ensuring that you don’t rough up your skin.
That said, what I really appreciate is how a little goes a really long way with this product.
But like every other thing in life, this scrub also has its cons
My biggest concern when buying any product is how it will react to my whitehead-riddled nose and cheeks. Will it aggravate sebum production and make my pores look bigger than the craters on the moon? Or in this case, will it actually unclog that trapped grime and dirt. The answer to that last question is: well almost.
If you’re expecting squeaky clean results when it comes to unclogging pores, then my friends–this scrub from Wldflwr Ntrls is not very effective. While it did wash away the top layer of loosened whiteheads, it wasn’t very successful in uprooting deep-seated ones–which my trusted DIY coffee masque did easily.
Also, it caused a bit of redness on my semi-sensitive skin–I blame the walnut bits for that. While the ruddiness did disappear on its own after a couple of minutes, I would suggest you do a patch test before diving deep.
All in all, I’ll give the Wldflwr Ntrls Clarifying and Toning Face Scrub 4 out of 5
This is one of the best products I have used in a while. It does live up to its claim of using all-natural ingredients and offering glowing skin–which with my rough skin I can flaunt for close to a week without exfoliating again. If oily skin and overbearing blackheads are not your main area of concern and you’re in the market for chemical-free products that can combat dullness–then this is the best face scrub for glowing skin.
