In the hustle bustle of life, it’s natural to have a lack of time to go for elaborate skincare routines. But during the festive season, everyone wants to put their best foot forward in terms of how they look. Don’t they? Diwali, for instance, when everyone wants to look prim and proper. While we can’t argue that it comes with consistent care and love towards one’s skin, you can try some quick fix beauty tips for instant glow.
Following certain do’s and dont’s for your skin care can help you with radiance. Health Shots reached out to Dr Kashish Kalra, head of department, Dermatology, Max Smart Superspeciality Hospital, New Delhi, to know some natural ways to get glowing skin.
Follow the basic facial care regime of cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection. Those with oily skin should use exfoliating face wash, which contains salicylic or glycolic acid, followed by a gel or water-based moisturizer sealing with a gel-based sunscreen. Those with dry skin should use milder face wash, cream-based moisturizer and sunscreen, suggests Dr Kalra.
You don’t want a last-minute breakout on your skin, do you? So, don’t try new products, facials or masks which you haven’t tried before. Your skin can’t afford
unpredictable allergic reactions which may lead to breakouts or sensitivity.
This one of the most basic beauty tips to follow. Hydrate yourself well. Maintain a balanced diet and drink adequate amount of water.
Wear your sunscreen first and then your make-up as it protects the skin from harmful effects of make-up. Otherwise, putting make-up for long hours can clog your pores and generate more debris, leading to breakouts and sensitivity.
Do remove the make-up well with micellar water followed by a good exfoliating cleanser and then moisturizer.
Choose a hydrating mask consistently, specially of hyaluronic acid or ceramides in your night regime to sooth and replenish your skin. Try some DIY face mask ideas too!
Nourish your skin with a night serum regime containing vitamin C or retinol. But start with less concentration initially preferably prescribed by your dermatologist.
Don’t forget to care for your lips. Prolonged outdoor exposure during shopping or outings can lead to chapped and dry skin, so keep a lip balm handy in your purse, and keep exfoliating your lips once in a while.
Follow these skincare and beauty tips as you set the countdown to the festival of lights, and see how you shine!
