Micellar water is a skincare product made using purified water, moisturizers like glycerin and mild surfactants (compounds used for cleansing). The molecules of the mild surfactants combine to formulate micelles, which is a spherical chemical structure that helps extract dirt and oil from the skin.

This product offers several benefits, as it is gentle on the skin due to lack of alcohol content. Moreover, it helps to remove dirt, makeup and oil to clean your pores. Micellar water is known to promote skin hydration, reducing irritation. It also keeps the skin soft and supple!

Using micellar water

This product can be used as a makeup remover. You may soak a cotton pad in the micellar water, gently sweeping the areas where makeup is applied. You can also use it as a cleanser by pouring the concoction on a cotton pad and rubbing it over your face. This product also works as a toner — gently pat it on the face using your hands, after your face has been cleansed.

Micellar water helps to improve skin health

This concoction can help to improve the overall health of the skin by hydrating it and cleaning it thoroughly. Its benefits include:

1.Deep cleansing

Micellar water helps to keep the skin clear by reducing acne, unlocking pores and removing blemishes. The presence of glycerin as an ingredient increases the permeability of the skin and enhances the effectiveness of the cleansing compounds in micellar water. Moreover, a study on cleanser formulations, published by ‘US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health’ suggests that micellar water is compatible with the skin, because it removes surface dirt, oil, and makeup without compromising the skin barrier and hence, does not put the integrity of the skin’s structure at risk.

2.Improves skin hydration and reduces irritation

Micellar water contains hydrating compounds like glycerin, which helps the skin to retain moisture effectively. Glycerin is effective at restoring skin hydration and enhancing the skin’s natural barrier function, which further promotes healing of wounds and reduces irritation and inflammation. While a doctor must be consulted before using any skin care product, this product is specifically beneficial for those with sensitive skin. It has the ability to maintain the skin barrier and helps to provide moisturizing effects. That’s exactly why it can be used by people with conditions such as rosacea, eczema or psoriasis.

3.Keeps the skin clear and smooth

Given that micellar water has the ability to cleanse the skin deeply, using it regularly ensures that the excess oil or dirt that could otherwise block pores and give way to breakouts, is efficiently removed from the surface of the skin. This ensures your skin stays clear and smooth. As per the American Academy of Dermatology, micellar water is effective to prevent breakouts and treat acne, as it removes dirt and releases sebum, which happens to be natural moisturizer.

So, get in touch with your dermatologist and begin your skin improvement journey with this fantastic product which is well suited for all skin types.
