Here are all the steps you need to know about for that perfect DIY facial at home:
The foremost step is to clean your skin. This step ensures you eliminate dirt, excess oil, impurities, dead skin, and makeup present on your skin.
Method: Massage your face and neck with an oil cleanser or facial oil (olive oil or coconut oil) for three to five minutes in a circular motion, while lifting the skin up. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Tip: Be gentle with your motion.
Doing this step helps to remove dead skin cells, and opens up the clogged pores.
Method: You can use any exfoliating agent or a DIY exfoliator of your choice. Massage your face in circular motion with your fingers, essentially around the nose and chin. Rinse your face with water.
Tip: Do not scrub around the eye.
Steaming your face opens up the pores, and helps absorb the products better.
Method: Boil water in a deep saucepan. Cover your head and face with a towel, and tilt towards the pan to let your face soak in the steam. Do it for five to 10 minutes.
Steaming your face helps in the next step, and that is extracting blackheads and whiteheads. You can buy extraction tools from a local drugstore
Method: In this step, you must remove blackheads and whiteheads from the T-zone area that includes your nose, chin, and forehead with the help of tools.
Tip: Consider skipping this step if you’ve no experience with extraction tools.
Face masks will make your skin shiny and radiant, and will also detox the skin. Moreover, it will eliminate the impurities, giving your face a healthy glow.
Method: You can prepare a DIY face mask with yogurt, honey, aloe vera, mashed banana. Apply it for 20 minutes and place two cucumber slices over your eyes. Massage your face gently for five minutes, before washing it off with lukewarm water.
Tip: Consider the face mask according to your skin type (oily or dry).
Using a toner helps to brighten the skin, and closes and cleans the pores.
Method: You can use store-bought toner or homemade toner (make one using one tablespoon apple cider vinegar and one tablespoon water). Soak a cotton ball in this mixture, and wipe all over the face.
The last step is to moisturize, which helps to hydrate your skin.
Method: Gently apply it on the face and neck thoroughly, and allow it to be absorbed into the skin. You can use aloe vera or a cucumber smooth paste
Tip: Use a moisturizer that does not contain alcohol.
So ladies, we hope you are going to try out this spa-like facial in the comfort of your home soon!
