When you are in your 20s, you can manage to just slather on some moisturiser and make your skin glow! But unfortunately as you age, things become a little different. Fine lines and wrinkles slowly start to make an appearance and leave you wondering if your 30s are going to make you feel old. But worry not, just like your body, your skin too needs a dose of its favourite foods too to repair and replenish—and of course, keep itself in top shape.

Are you ready to find out what these ingredients are? Let’s not waste any time and get down to the details:

1. Hyaluronic acid

The very first ingredient on this list has to be hyaluronic acid that is known to regulate cell reversal and promote skin hydration. And believe it or not, one gram of hyaluronic acid can hold up to six litres of water. As per research, half of the hyaluronic acid in your body is present in your skin, and it binds with water to retain moisture.

Unfortunately, the natural ageing process, as well as indoor and outdoor pollutants, can reduce its amounts in the skin. However, you can easily use serums with this ingredient to get glowing skin in your 30s.

2. Retinol

You may have come across this term several times, but do you really know what it is? It is an active form of the vitamin A molecule that helps to increase the production of collagen in your skin. That’s not all—it also helps to treat acne, blackheads, and clogged pores, thereby making it a must-have in your skincare regime.

But there’s one thing that you need to remember with retinol: do not overuse it. Use it on alternate nights or maybe twice a week, and then build up using it every night. Also, make sure to always use sunscreen before you apply any product that has retinol. That’s because it puts your skin at risk of sun damage.

3. Ceramides

This is another important ingredient that must be a part of your skincare regime. Ceramides are lipids or fat molecules that help the skin to retain moisture. So, if you want soft and supple skin, you can’t afford to miss out on ceramides. Experts call it the ‘body’s natural moisturiser’, since it acts like a barrier that prevents dehydration. But as you hit your 30s, the level of ceramides in your skin drops, that’s why it is essential to include products with this ingredient to aid the anti-ageing process.

4. Vitamin C

Don’t we all love lemon and other citrus fruits all-year round? Well, the same goes for your skin. Yes, it’s true—vitamin C is one ingredient that acts like a shield for the skin, protecting it against the day’s stress, free radicals as well as massive pollution. When this ingredient is used safely, it can help to accelerate the production of collagen and elastin that can delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Moreover, it helps to keep your skin tight and firm, and also reduces the effects of photo-aging.

Lastly, vitamin C also evens out any discolouration in the skin, as well as tackles dark circles—so no one can stop you from getting glowing skin!

5. Glycolic acid

It is an alpha-hydroxy acid that is derived from sugarcane, and has the lowest molecular weight. What does this really mean? It means that it can easily penetrate into your skin, and work its magic like no other. For starters, it’s a great exfoliant—it helps to remove dead skin cells that are tightly bonded together to reveal new layers.
