Yoga pose to reduce unwanted facial hair growthPublished on: 28 April 2022, 16:28 pm IST
Are you guilty of plucking that dark coarse hair sticking out of your chin or neck once in a while? We wish they don’t come back, but alas! They come back again, flaunting their thickness more than any hair on the body (Not even our head!). To avoid the constant embarrassment caused by the unwanted hair growth, we grab our tweezers, face razors, and even threads. But they can’t be beaten down with any tool as they seem to emerge stronger again. While the internet is brimming with remedies to reduce facial hair, most of them seem quackery and exaggerated claims. However, there is one yoga pose that may help reduce facial hair from the inside by regulating your raging hormones.
When our hormones are regulated, it will lead to a favorable and positive result for the health of our body. There will be a natural flow state to the body where all aspects of our health like physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health are all balanced. In addition to this, hormones are also responsible for both our inner as well as outer health- like skin appearance and hair growth.
HealthShots spoke to Grand Master Akshar, a yoga master and spiritual guru who doled out a yoga pose that can help reduce the appearance of these pesky unwanted hair on chin and upper lips.
Here’s the only yoga pose to reduce facial hair:
If you want to keep your hormonal state in a fine balance then the yoga pose that you must practice regularly is chakrasana. Chakrasana is also known as the Wheel pose and is a back-bending posture that can be done after a proper warm up. Chakrasana can give your body a number of benefits including improved blood circulation in the body, regulation of hormones, glowing skin and hair.
Akshar says, “Practicing chakrasana regularly will also reduce facial hair growth. It promotes the functioning of your thyroid gland and can provide you with solutions to manage hormonal related conditions like PCOS, PCOD et cetera.”
Here’s how to practice chakrasana to reduce facial hair:
- To practice chakrasana start with a proper warm up including your hamstrings and back.
- Lay down on a yoga mat and fold your legs placing your feet at a comfortable distance from your pelvis.
- Reverse and place your palms under your ears, and as you inhale prepare to lift up the pelvis and straighten your arms.
Best time to practice chakrasana:
The best time to practice chakrasana is early in the morning. It is recommended that you perform this pose on an empty stomach. To see the benefits of this pose it is important that you maintain a regular and consistent discipline. For example, you must practice this pose a minimum of three times in a week. If you decide to practice chakrasana at a particular time of day, then you must try and maintain the same timing each time that you practice. For best results perform this asana for 3 to 4 weeks.
