You must have heard that exfoliation is an integral part of a good skincare routine. That’s because it helps to remove dead skin cells and dirt, giving your face a healthy glow and also reduces instances of breakouts. That’s exactly why you need to include a scrub in your skincare routine and physically exfoliate your skin, at least once a week.
Unfortunately, the scrubs available in the market can be extremely harsh on the skin and cause abrasions. In addition, chemicals present in them can leave the skin extremely dry. So, it is best to stick to gharelu nuskhe when it comes to exfoliating. And what’s better than a multani mitti-almond face scrub?
You see, almonds are rich in fatty acids that ensure your skin stays moisturised. What’s more, the nut has antioxidant properties, which can help your skin fight the action of damaging free radicals. Most importantly, almonds are very gentle on the skin, when used as a scrub.
Multani mitti, on the other hand, has been used since time immemorial for skin care. That’s because it can remove excess sebum, reduce the risk of breakouts, cleanse the skin of dirt and soothe irritated skin. When combined, both the ingredients can exfoliate your skin gently without causing any harm. In fact, this scrub can provide your skin with additional benefits.
So without further ado, let’s learn how to make this face scrub:
– 5-6 almonds
– 1 tsp multani mitti
– 1 tsp rose water or plain water
Step 1: Soak the almonds for at least an hour, before crushing them. This will make the process of breaking them down into small pieces easier. In addition, soaked almonds will be gentle on the skin when you begin the process of scrubbing. You can use a mortar and pestle for crushing the soaked almonds; you can also do so in an electric blending machine.
Step 2: Now, add multani mitti to the crushed almonds, along with rose or plain water. Mix these ingredients together till you get a paste-like consistency.
This face scrub can be extremely effective and safe, when it comes to exfoliating your skin but remember that moderation is key. You should use it only once or twice a week. Using it every day can cause harm to the skin!
