Steaming your face is a great way to cleanse and open up your pores. This helps loosen any build-up of dirt and softens blackheads, making them easier to remove. Moreover, steaming promotes blood circulation as the combination of warm steam and an increase in perspiration dilates your blood vessels, boosting blood flow that nourishes your skin.
While steaming will give your skin a glow, a face mask when used after steaming can help further exfoliate your face—since your face is warm and your pores open, facilitating a deep cleaning effect.
Face masks come in many variants. However, the ones to use right after steaming should ideally check a few boxes. As the pores open up after steaming, the mask should be easy to peel and/or rinse off and not be harsh as it may cause abrasions or irritation.
Hence, to help you get that radiant face, we present three home-made face masks to apply after steaming:
Honey is a great ingredient as it hydrates the skin and has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Gram flour on the other hand brightens the skin and removes tan. Combined with rice water, this face pack will make your skin smooth and radiant.

Rice water
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp besan
Preparation:
Step 1: Mix rice water with besan and honey until you get a paste-like consistency.
Step 2: Apply the face pack and leave it to dry for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Once the pack has dried, rinse it off with cold water.
Bananas are full of skin-friendly nutrients such as vitamins A, B and E that help with fading dark spots and reducing dryness and appearance of wrinkles. Additionally, yoghurt is loaded with essential nutrients like calcium, vitamin B-2, vitamin B-12, potassium that promotes skin health and honey hydrates your skin.
Ingredients:
¼ cup yoghurt
2 tbsp honey
1 medium-sized banana
Preparation:
Step 1: Mash up the banana into a smooth paste.
Step 2: Mix yoghurt and honey with the banana paste and apply the pack.
Step 3: Let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water.
Lemons contain hydroxy acids such as AHA (Alpha hydroxy acid) and BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) that remove dead skin cells and help reduce blackheads, acne, and discolouration. Honey offers its hydrating and antioxidant properties to help you get a smooth and glowing face.
Ingredients:
1/2 lemon
1 tablespoon honey
Preparation:
Step 1: Mix the juice from the lemon with a tablespoon of honey.
Step 2: Apply the mix to your face, let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
