Most of us follow a strict skincare routine during summers and winters, but it takes a backseat during the monsoon season. This happens primarily because we fail to recognise that monsoon is a distinct season and can cause specific dermal issues. In fact, the rainy season can exacerbate existing problems. Humidity, an integral characteristic of the Indian monsoon, is known to cause frizzy hair, greasy skin, and chafing.

Don’t worry! You don’t have to create a separate beauty routine. A little mixing up is all you need.

Here are five DIY face packs for you to make sure your beauty regime doesn’t take a backseat this monsoon:

1. Oatmeal and curd

Mix three tablespoons of oats and one egg in a bowl. Add two tablespoons of fresh curd and a spoonful of honey to this mix. Now, place this mixture in the refrigerator until it is completely cold. Next, apply it to your entire face. It should be left on for 15 to 20 minutes before being washed off.

Oatmeal will absorb all the extra oil from your face while also balancing your skin’s pH level. Curd, which has a high concentration of beneficial bacteria, will make your skin glow and feel soft.

2. Gram flour and rose water

Add a pinch of turmeric to a spoonful of gram flour. To make a paste, combine a few drops of lemon juice and a teaspoon of rose water. Apply this to your whole face and neck. Wait for 15 minutes before washing it off.

Gram flour contains antimicrobial qualities that help to treat acne and calm irritated skin. Lemon juice and turmeric give your skin a healthy shine while also cleaning up the pores.

3. Honey, lavender essential oil, and tea tree essential oil

Mix two tablespoons of honey with four tablespoons of lavender essential oil. Add a drop of tea tree essential oil to the mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes. Apply it evenly to your whole face. Allow the face pack to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Rinse with cold water once more to ensure that your pores are closed.

Honey contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that help to cure acne and breakouts while also evening out the skin tone. Lavender is known to add a natural glow to the skin, as well as soothing acne and other skin problems. Tea tree essential oil is a miracle worker when it comes to treating acne!

4. Sandalwood and turmeric

Combine one tablespoon sandalwood powder and half a teaspoon turmeric powder in a bowl. Add some rose water to these two ingredients to make a thick paste. Apply the pack to your face and neck. Sit back and relax while it dries! Next, wash it off using lukewarm water.

Sandalwood soothes the skin while absorbing the excess oil and turmeric gives it a healthy shine.

5. Lemon and honey

Combine half a lemon’s juice with two teaspoons of honey. Apply this mixture to cleansed skin and leave it on for 10 minutes. Next, wash it away with water.

The honey in this face pack keeps the pH balance of your skin in check, making it ideal for most skin types.
