We live in a world that is dominated by technology. Look around you, and you’ll find most of us are glued to our screens almost all day, whether it’s for personal or professional use. This excess screen time impacts our eyes, and we end up with puffiness and swelling around the eyes.

Puffiness, in particular, is the result of a build-up of excess fluid under the eyes. And dilated blood vessels right underneath the eyelid skin may lead to the puffy appearance!

Do you want to take care of your eyes from the comfort of your home? We bet it’s a big YES! That’s why we’ve got you three hydrating eye masks that you can make using simple kitchen ingredients.

1. Coffee and egg white eye mask

Get ready to drive away puffiness from your eyes with this excellent mask. Coffee contains caffeine that helps to protect your skin cells against ageing, tightens the skin and eliminates puffiness. The egg white, on the other hand, is rich in vitamin A, zinc and protein, all of which are essential for good eye health.

Ingredients:
-1 egg white
-2 tsp coffee powder

Preparation and use:
-Mix the egg white and coffee in a small bowl.
-Beat the mixture together with a fork, until frothy.
-Apply the mask around and under the eyes.
-Let the mask dry for 10 minutes.
-Use a soft, wet towel to gently clean off the mask, and use a moisturizer to finish it off.

2. Cucumber and rose water eye mask

Cucumber contains antioxidants, which helps with fighting wrinkles and ageing around the eye area. The alpha-hydroxy acids help make your skin brighter, firm and smooth. Rose water, besides smelling fantastic, helps hydrate your skin, works as an anti-inflammatory agent and regenerates skin cells.

Ingredients:
-½ cucumber
-30-40 ml rose water
-Tissue paper/cotton balls or pads

Preparation and use:
-Peel and blend the cucumber and rose water, until the concoction becomes liquidy.
-Put the mixture into a bowl, and soak the tissue paper/cotton balls or pads.
-Freeze the soaked tissue paper/cotton balls or pads for 10 minutes.
-Apply the mask under your eyes and let it sit for about 15 minutes.

3. Parsley and yoghurt eye mask

Parsley is rich in vitamin C, chlorophyll and vitamin K that lightens skin, diminishes age spots and reduces puffiness. Yoghurt complements parsley, as it is rich in vitamin A and zinc, which helps with maintaining blood circulation in the eye region.

Ingredients:
-½-1 cup parsley, chopped
-1 tbsp yoghurt
-1 tbsp hot water
