For some people, trying how to manage hair loss is a never-ending challenge! It is a widespread issue that has several causes, including nutritional deficiencies, post Covid-19 symptoms, post-typhoid side effects, stress, poor metabolism, low calcium levels, unhealthy lifestyles, junk food, irregular sleep patterns and poor hair care practices among others. Although there are many solutions in the market that promise great results, nothing compares to using a natural or home remedy for hair fall control.

Ayurveda expert Dr Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya, who regularly shares beauty and wellness-related tips via Instagram, shared one such home remedy recently. She suggests the use of a 3-ingredient mukhvas, a mouth freshener or seed mix, to help you manage hair fall issues.

Here’s a home remedy for hair fall control

Ingredients

* Flax seeds
* Sesame seeds
* Pink salt

Procedure:

1. Take 1 bowl flax seeds
2. Half bowl sesame seeds
3. 1 tsp pink salt
4. Dry roast the mixture for 5-7 minutes on a medium flame.
5. Your hair fall rescue mixture is ready.

As far as the dosage of this hair fall seed mix is concerned, the expert suggests you have 1 tbsp or 10 gm approximately, 30 minutes post lunch and dinner. This can even be consumed as an evening snack.

For people with high pitta (acidity or excess bleeding issues), the expert suggests to roast the seeds in ghee and have it in the dosage of 10 gm/day to avoid any likely side effects.

How do these seeds work to reduce hair loss?

1. Flaxseeds:

Flaxseeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, which collectively work to reduce hair fall and boost hair growth. Since omega-3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatory, they can soothe the scalp.

These superseeds also have a good dose of Vitamin B, apart from being rich in biotin, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid, and folic acid. Together, these contribute to stronger, faster-growing hair, shares the expert.

Flaxseeds even include vitamin E, which stimulates hair follicles and reduces the impact of free radicals on your scalp.

2. Sesame seeds:

Sesame seeds are known to promote healthy hair development. The iron, vitamin B and antioxidant qualities in black sesame seeds help prevent greying.

Since Ayurveda views hair and nails as a by-product of calcium and sesame seeds are excellent for the bones, sesame in a sense raises your calcium levels, which in turn improves your hair, shares Dr Savaliya.

3. Pink salt:

It improves your gut capacity to be able to digest and absorb the nutrients from both flax and sesame seeds. It also adds to the taste of the mixture.
