Mira Rajput Kapoor has always made heads turn, even when she was a complete newbie in the public eye. Her first appearance as Shahid Kapoor’s fiance was the talk of the town, and people just couldn’t stop gushing about how gorgeous she looked!

Today, Mira has her own fan base and her Instagram is proof of that. We love how she shares snippets from her private life on social media without any kind of filter. Her audience keeps flooding her with requests, but if there’s one thing they can’t get enough of, it is her skin and hair care routine!

The beauty decided to humour her fans, and in a new IGTV video on Instagram, shared some amazing natural hacks that can be easily followed at home. She has always been vocal about her love for kitchen ingredients, when it comes to skin and hair care.

In an earlier interview to a media publication, she had said, “I don’t use many beauty products as I have always believed less is more, and taking care of oneself from within shows on one’s skin.”

But before we dive into the details, there’s a disclaimer we need to share. Remember to do a patch test and then use these hacks, because you wouldn’t want to end up with adverse reactions. Says Mira: “All of these ingredients are natural—they’re spices, things you find in the cabinet, in the fridge, but they can have adverse reactions. Also, make sure your produce is washed, utensils are cleansed and spices are the purest possible.”

So without further ado, let’s learn all about these hacks:

1. Honey and turmeric face mask

Mira uses this mask that contains the goodness of honey and turmeric to exfoliate her skin. “Honey, as you all know, is a natural humectant and it is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. I like to use it for when I have zits or muddy looking skin that is not looking fresh,” she says. “The haldi doesn’t dissolve in the honey, making it granular,” she adds. This is what helps to remove dead skin cells and brightens and tightens the skin.

2. Raw milk toner

“I have seen my mom putting raw milk on her face since I was young. It was her remedy for everything, whether it was sunburn, an uneven tan, skin feeling dry or not feeling healthy, she used to do this every morning (sic),” shared Mira.

Mira applies raw milk mixed with rose water to her face with a cotton ball. The lactic acid in raw milk helps to brighten the skin, and also works well when it comes to dry, flaky and irritated skin. “I use it on my kids when they play way too much in the sun and get sunburnt,” she adds.

3. Basil as an anti-acne secret

We all know zits can cause sleepless nights, but worry not, because Mira has the perfect solution for you. She doesn’t rely on spot treatments available in the market, instead she goes for this basil-based skincare treatment. “I figured this hack out when I was facing PCOS-like acne conditions,” she said.

She steeps basil in water, and then puts it onto the zits. “It is going to settle, reducing the redness and the bump (sic),” adds Mira.

4. Facial at home

We think celebrities keep getting beauty treatments at salons, but guess what? Mira didn’t get one, even before her wedding. “There’s this concept of a bridal facial and I was like no way, I’m not letting anyone else touch my face,” she mentioned in the video.

Her DIY facial starts with applying half a lemon on her face, because “the nimbu fibres become brush-like. It is highly acidic but I like the after-effect, shares Mira. Next, she uses a gram flour and yoghurt mask, with additional ingredients like orange peel, sandalwood, moringa powder, neem powder, saffron and rose water.

Once she washes off the mask, she uses tomato juice on her face, and completes the facial by applying generous amounts of aloe vera. “The last step is aloe vera, which just cools your skin, tightens it, tones it. I can feel that my skin is breathing, it is really refreshed,” she said, adding that all this must be used on the neck too!

5. Coconut oil and hibiscus for hair growth

“I’ve always seen hibiscus as an ingredient for hair packs, so why not make it yourself?”, she says. She uses a few hibiscus leaves and two hibiscus flowers with coconut oil, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, amla powder and neem powder. She boils all these ingredients, and then lets it cool down before putting it all over her hair.

6. Flaxseed hair gel

She uses a flaxseed hair gel to moisturise her strands. All you need to do is boil half a cup of flaxseeds with water, and then strain the water to make the gel. “The gel is quite a good hack for baby hair. It is helping you keep your hair neat and it is nourishing you at the same time,” she shares.
