Skin benefits of pear

When we think of vitamin C, citrus fruits pop up in our minds. But if you don’t like anything citrus, you can try the sweet pear that contains a good amount of Vitamins A and C. Pandey said that they help to prevent the damage from the oxidative stress that is caused from the poor diet, stress and pollution. Pears also reduce the dryness of skin and wrinkles, and the phenolic content in the fruit comprises useful skin-whitening agents. The fruit’s extracts are used as a skin treatment ingredient as they are not only antioxidants, but might also have UVB-blocking ability.

Women with acne problem can also use pears on their face as the fruit possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. They help to effectively combat the “microbes causing acne and thus, reducing inflammation and scarring on the face,” shared the expert. Pears are full of dietary fiber which plays a key role in keeping skin soft and smooth.

If we look at the skincare products in the markets, we can pick anything from pear-based scrubs to face wash with pear as the ingredient or pear- based sunscreen.

But if you believe in doing it yourself in the comfort of your home then you can do the following:

1. Pear and oatmeal face pack

Mix pear, oatmeal and water with pear juice extract and turn it into a paste.
Apply it on your face in an even layer then leave it on for 10 minutes and finally, wash it off with lukewarm water. This will help to keep your skin youthful as it reduces age spots as well as wrinkles.

2. Pear with moisturising ingredients

Mash a pear and mix it with fresh cream and honey then use this paste thrice a week as a face mask if you want soft skin.

3. Pear for oily skin

You can also use a mashed pear with just honey to control oil on your skin, making it perfect for those with oily skin.
