In order to get the most out of this superb ingredient, Health Shots spoke to Dr Amit Bangia, Sr. Consultant Dermatologist, Asian Hospital Faridabad, to suggest some of the best malai-based face masks.

Dr Bangia says, “Malai hydrates and exfoliates the skin at the same time. It helps in bringing a natural glow to the weary skin while removing dirt, toxins, and germs from the skin.” Moreover, since malai moisturises your skin and tightens up the pores, you’ll also notice fine lines and wrinkles fading away.

To get flawless skin try these best malai or milk cream packs:

1. Malai and apricot mask

Apricots are high in vitamin E, K, and antioxidants, all of which are beneficial to skin health. Malai is also good for whitening the skin, especially if it’s been sunburned.

Here’s how to apply it:

  • Remove the skin and deseed an apricot. Blend it till smooth.
  • To the purée, add 1 teaspoon of malai. Mix thoroughly.
  • Massage it into your face and neck for about 5 minutes in a circular motion.
  • Allow it to sit for10 minutes for it to dry.
  • Rinse it thoroughly with water.
  • Apply at least twice a week for best results.

2. Malai and sandalwood mask

This pack has anti-ageing properties, can reduce pimples, and helps in removing scars and softening the skin. You can reap all these benefits by using it once a week.

  • Mix a teaspoon of malai with half teaspoon of sandalwood.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric and saffron to it and mix well to make a smooth paste.
  • Apply it on your face evenly.
  • Leave it on the skin for 30 minutes and then rinse your face with cold water.

3. Malai and almond mask

Malai and almond mask can moisturise your skin and prevent ageing. It can deliver so many nutrients, including powerful antioxidants to the skin which corrects dull and lifeless skin appearance.

Here’s how to apply it:

  • Crush almonds into a fine pulp with a clean mortar and pestle.
  • Add a teaspoon of malai, or fresh cream straight from the milk.
  • Mix them together.
  • Apply it to your face after cleaning it with a cleanser.
  • Allow for 15 minutes of resting time.
  • Spray some water and using circular motions remove the mask.
  • Use lukewarm water to wash it away.

4. Malai and orange-lemon juice

Lemon and orange both have antibacterial and antimicrobial characteristics that help with acne and pimples. In addition, when used with malai, this face mask acts as a lightening agent, removes dark spots, scars, and blemishes.

Here’s how to apply it:

  • Mix malai with a teaspoon of orange and lemon juice each.
  • Apply it on the face, avoiding areas around the nose, corners of the mouth, and around the eyes.
  • Leave it for 30 minutes and wash it.
  • Do it twice a week for clearer skin.

5. Honey and malai mask

Honey and malai have abundance of vitamins and minerals which are beneficial for the skin. It also helps to boost dead skin cells, resulting in a brighter complexion.

Here’s how to apply it:

  • Take a bowl and add 1 tablespoon of malai.
  • Now, add a teaspoon of honey. Mix well to make a smooth paste.
  • Once you get the smooth texture, apply it to your skin and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  • Rinse off with warm water and do not forget to apply sunscreen.
