Almost all of us love the winter season but the one thing that we all dread about this season is dry and lifeless skin, don’t we? Dry skin is like an uninvited guest during the winter season. No matter how many products you apply to your skin, there is nothing that can completely resolve the issue. And what comes in handy? A skin moisturizer.

Dr Nivedita Dadu, Renowned Dermatologist, Founder and Chairman of Dr. Nivedita Dadu’s Dermatology Clinic, says, “Many people struggle with dry skin during winter. As the weather is changing, our skin becomes a little dry. In winter, the air becomes dry making the skin patchy, flaky and itchy which further results in uneven, and dull-looking skin. The skin of our face, feet, and hands become dry and tight. Sometimes, it also starts itching and can result in cracks and flaking.”

But hold on, what’s the solution anyway? Well, Dr Dadu adds that “The best way to tackle the problem of dry skin is to apply a gel moisturizer made from natural ingredients at home.” Using natural ingredients to prepare gel moisturizers will ensure that your skin is not exposed to chemicals that may leave your skin feeling extremely dry and brittle.

Gel moisturizers to keep your skin soft:

Dr Dadu suggests these DIY recipes for gel moisturizers to keep the skin soft and hydrated, especially during winters

1. Non-greasy tea tree oil and aloe vera gel moisturizer

To make this moisturizer, we need one cup of aloe vera gel, half cup of almond oil, half cup of beeswax, a few drops of tea tree oil, and one teaspoon of vitamin E oil.

To make this moisturizer, follow these steps:

  • First, place a double boiler on low flame and add beeswax and almond oil to it
  • Let the beeswax melt completely and then remove it from the flame

  • Mix the ingredients and push them down if the ingredients are pooling at the edge
  • Blend it till all the ingredients are well blended.
  • Then store this gel moisturizer in a jar. And it’s ready!

2. Avocado oil

This exotic fruit has amazing skin and hair benefits too. It can be used individually without any companion ingredient and avocado oil works amazingly well for dry skin, especially during winter. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and essential vitamins that make it quickly absorbed in the skin.
